This Season's Trends
Although minimalist designs continue to be very popular, for 2008 there are strong indicators that people are looking for softer shapes and more opulence in the bathroom. The extreme edge of minimalism is being softened towards a comforting look that symbolises the post-minimalist trend.
Our lives are increasingly busy with conflicting demands on our time. The bathroom is a haven away from the pressures of everyday life and that is now being reflected in bathroom design. The bathroom is no longer just a functional place but rather a space for maintaining physical, and spiritual, well being.
Opulence
Our Fairfield collection reflects this trend which embodies a move away from harsh angular lines towards a softer classical style. The collection encompasses tactile, natural materials such as wood and ceramic.
At Samuel Heath we pride ourselves on offering flexibility and choice to people whose desire is to create something which is both personal and individual. Why not mix a stainless steel finish with wood? It is the finishing touches that are becoming so important in this bathroom trend with custom detailing and accessories.
Organic
An important development for bathrooms is towards a natural, organic appearance.
Graceful lines that reflect nature are a key trend in brassware design; smooth curves with tubular spouts are featured in our Fairfield tap collection. This development is also typified in Samuel Heath’s Fairfield accessories; our soap dish has taken inspiration directly from the Arum Lily for example.
The bathroom is a place of calm and restfulness, simple lines and curves that are easy on the eye are gaining favour.
Glamour
The use of different finishes is also really important now, although chrome will probably continue to be prevalent we are seeing polished nickel and antique gold making a comeback as these finishes lend themselves to a feeling of elegance and glamour.
These looks reflect a simple and understated colour palette, not monochrome but sophisticated, to complement a bathroom environment designed to promote well being and happiness. As the world becomes more stressful and uncertain place the Samuel Heath bathroom becomes a place of indulgence.
